Helene Dancer
Director, producer, writer

I am a content director, producer, writer and strategist who specialises in culture, travel and business.

In my work, I've told the story of a Tunisian artist who's fighting extremists with graffiti, met a mother who lost two daughters to ISIS, travelled deep into Missouri to meet a man creating a new blueprint for civilization, and interviewed former South African president FW de Klerk about how to make the world a better place.

I also directed and produced a short documentary about a dancer who's bringing the vogue scene to Lebanon, a country where its queer community still faces extreme discrimination. CNN's Great Big Story licensed Vogue Beirut for its Pride programming, and the film was selected for the 2018 Fringe! Queer Film Festival, Shorts on Tap's 2019 Tales of the Silk Road Festival, and Shanghai's CINEMQ.

Apart from trying to learn how to vogue, I’ve helped launch Lonely Planet's video platform, developed and produced branded content campaigns for CNN Create and Bloomberg Media Studios, and written for the Guardian, Vice, Lonely Planet Traveller and Mixmag.

I’ve also worked at some brilliant creative agencies, making award-winning editorial content for brands such as Audi, Land Rover, Mazda and Nike. The work has included devising and pitching content strategies and ideas, managing editorial and production teams, commissioning and writing long-form features, producing and directing podcast records and video shoots, and managing post-production and delivery.

I live in London but spent 12 years in South Africa, which I visit as often as I can.
